Prelims Strategy
She did not have any idea about the exam preparation, but still, she managed to tackle with that. The strategy she used to follow is discussed below:
She gave her 3 months for the prelims exam preparation. She used to read all the necessary books or study material but she did not make any notes from the books. She used to underline the important or necessary points. She used to read The Hindu newspaper regularly & she tried to attempt as many questions as she can before the exam. The mock test helps you to know that how many correct answers you know, which further helps you during the examination. After giving the mock tests, revise the mock tests. She used to make a word document after every mock test in bullet points.
For CSAT preparation, she used to attempt the previous year question papers. You should focus on the following areas:
- Mnemonics for constitutional articles
- Committees formed for different purpose by Government
- World Heritage Sites
- National Parks/ Wildlife Sanctuaries, rivers flowing through them
- Various reports released by domestic/international institutions

Mains Preparation
First of all, make a timetable & strictly follow the timetable regularly. She started her mains preparation after the prelims examination. Regarding her mains preparation she used to divide her entire day into three parts:
Newspaper & Answer Writing: In this part, she used to read newspaper & work on her answer writing. She used to follow answer writing practice on insights. She used to take 20-25 minutes to write a single answer, but later on she worked on her writing skills and at the end she used to write an answer in 6-7 minutes. So, it is important to work on your writing skills as well as writing speed.
Optional Subject: During this time she used to give 4-5 hours a day to her optional subject preparation. She used to give 2-2.5 hours a day for each part of the optional subject.
General Studies: It is a very important aspect of CSE. She used to devote 6-7 hours daily for the general studies preparation. She used to follow online sources available for the general studies.
She used to give a lot of mock tests. She gave around 17-18 mock tests before the exam. She used to attempt the test with a time duration of 3 hours so that she can easily attempt the exam.

Optional Preparation
She has opted for Commerce & Accountancy as her optional subject.
The first exam is practical in nature. The main focus should be on Accountancy, Cost Management, Financial Management, Taxation & Auditing. The key for this exam is the practice. The theory part is predictable as it is repetitive in nature. You must attempt the previous year exams to get an understanding of the exam.
The second exam is more theoretical in nature. The main focus should be on Human Resource, Organization Behavior, Organization Theory and Industrial Relations. She used to follow the news articles regularly. The things you should consider while attempting this exam are:
- Make your answer crisp & simple.
- Add more precise content to an answer.
- Give examples of the answers.
- Draw diagrams wherever possible.
