Preparation Strategy for UPSC CSE 2018

Start your preparation by choosing authorized books for each subject. Candidates who are preparing in Hindi medium can refer IAS Books in Hindi Medium. The basic books for CSE preparation are NCERT books from class 6th to 12th. NCERT is not enough so you should also refer to the other books available in the market.
It is must for you to read the newspaper daily to stay updated with the current affairs with each subject. You should read the newspaper on regular basis. The questions in the exam will be logical rather than direct questions.
The newspaper is must but not enough apart from newspapers you should also read magazines like Yojana, Kurukshetra, the frontline etc. This will help you to know all about government policies. Reading magazine plays an important role in improving your writing skills for mains.

Try to regularly follow some government websites. Government websites include details about all the policies available. This will give you recent information about all the laws and policies.
